The battle for Karnataka continues.  Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa put out a tweet on Wednesday where he criticised the Congress for the lack of development and good governance.

"Development and good governance have been ousted from Karnataka since @siddaramaiah govt came to power. @BJP4Karnataka will strive to provide a clean & efficient government while enabling a participatory approach in governance," he tweeted.

To which Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said that the previous government saw three chief ministers changed, half a dozen MLAs and ministers, including BS Yeddyurappa going to jail on charges of corruption. He also pointed out that the Reddy brothers looted 26,000 crore of mineral wealth. Most BDA layouts in Begaluru, Siddaramiah alleged, were abandoned due to the denotification scam.

“I came to power on the back of a govt that had to change 3 CMs, half a dozen MLAs & Ministers including @BSYBJP went to jail, Reddy brothers looted 26,000 Cr of mineral wealth & most new BDA layouts in Bengaluru were abandoned due to denotification scam. Do you believe BSY,” he asked, with an emoji pointing to Yedyurappa’s tweet.

Earlier senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily today said every single seat will witness a tough fight among the three parties in the fray and ruled out his party entering into any post-poll alliance with the JD(S).

Moily also targeted the BJP for fielding the elder brother of tainted mining baron G Janardhan Reddy for a seat in Bellari and said this showed that the main opposition party in Karnataka is in an "uncomfortable position".

Elections to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly are due to be held on May 12.

The ruling Congress in Karnataka has announced a list of 218 candidates and it is still in the process of finalising candidates for the remaining six constituencies -- Sindagi, Kittur, Nagthana, Melukote, Raichur and Shantinagar.
