Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha seat Arkesh K has been trying his best to have an impact on Chikkaballapur parliament constituency. Many voters, including the main contestants, do not want give much importance to him or his campaign.
However, he, being a retired police official, is confident of voters electing him to the Lok Sabha despite main contenders spending crores of rupees to get votes. In a brief interview with dna, Arkesh expresses his views on his opponents and various issues.
What is your weakness?
I do not have any weakness. I am known for sincerity and punctuality.
What is the good point of your main rival?
How can you expect me to say good about my opponents in this election? They are trying to cheat the voters by offering money.
What does an MP do in Parliament?
Being an educated person, I am aware of the responsibilities and duties of an MP.
Will you ever defect?
No. I want to remain in AAP.
What portfolio are you hoping to get, if you get into the cabinet?
I don't think that I will get an opportunity to become a minister since chances of AAP coming to power at the Centre are remote. I will prefer to serve the people of Chikkaballapur constituency than becoming a minister.
Do you think the Lok Pal Bill is good?
I am not happy with the present form of Lok Pal.
Do you think women should be in public? Do you support 33% reservation for women in parliament?
I support reservation for women. To empower women, more and more women have to join politics and fight the rampant corruption at government hospital and among politicians.
Do you support controversial changes to law, such as legislation of gay sex?
I have to look into it.
How should we solve the Kashmir problem?
The ruling party has to take all political parties and stake-holders into confidence while trying for a permanent solution to Kashmir problem..
How should we settle the border dispute with China?
We should not compromise on the security and sovereignty of our country.
Are you aware of what is happening in Afghanistan?
Yes. I am aware of it.
Are you for foreign direct investment in retail trade?
I am against foreign direct investment in retail trade if it affects retails and street vendors.
