Hyderabad shocker | Facebook friend rapes teenager inside movie hall during Padmaavat show

In yet another case that shows the sorry state of women safety in India, a teenager was allegedly raped by her Facebook friend inside a Secundrabad movie hall.

According to latest media reports, the incident took place on Monday when the 19-year-old girl met her Facebook friend for a Padmaavat show at Prashant theatre in Indira Park area.

‘They visited Indira Park and later Bhikshapati took her to a movie in Prashant theatre in the afternoon. Later, inside the theatre, he raped her by luring her with a fake promise of marriage,’ Inspector M Mattaiah, was quoted as saying.

The accused has been identified as 23-year-old Bhikshapati, who had come down to Hyderabad to meet his relatives. 

A report in Times of India said that the accused took advantage of empty cinema hall and raped the teenager. 

A case has been registered against Bhikshapati under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident comes almost 10 days after an IIT Kanpur student was raped inside her hostel room by an Indian Air Force officer, who was said to be her Facebook friend. 

According to the survivor, the accused met her on Facebook. Soon, they started talking and kept in touch for about a year. The accused IAF officer later proposed marriage and started visiting the girl’s hostel and allegedly repeatedly raped her.
