Hyderabad: Bajrang Dal activists forcefully get couple married on Valentine's day

A case has been registered against right-wing group — Bajrang Dal activists for making a couple forcefully marry on Valentine's day to mark their protest against the celebrations. The incident took place at Kandlakoya Oxygen Park in Medchal, Hyderabad where the activists of the right-wing group found a young couple and forced them to get married.

One of the Bajrang Dal activists said that they were against the celebrations on Valentine's Day as according to them it was against Hindu traditions and not a symbol of the community's culture.

According to reports, the activists forced the boy to tie something which appeared like a mangalsutra to the girl and forced them to get married.

Prior to this, Bajrang Dal activists had protested against Valentine's Day celebrations and carried out bike rallies warning people of the consequences if they would go out and celebrate the day. A few days ago, activists of Bajrang Dal had warned people that if they were caught celebrating, then their parents will be involved and will be given counselling.

Not a first time when Bajrang Dal activists have protested against Valentine's day celebration and tried to interfere in people's personal lives. Every year, right-wing group activists harass couples who wish to engage in celebrations and interfere in people's private lives by threatening them or forcing them not to celebrate the occasion. 

However, several activists have been taken under preventive custody by the Telangana police to avoid any mishappening or untoward incident.
