The hardline Hurriyat on Tuesday voiced its opposition to BJP sharing power in Jammu and Kashmir and asked the people of the state to be prepared mentally for "decisive resistance" in such a case.

Accusing the mainstream parties of "having sold their faith, conscience and the national pride", Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said, "None of them is capable of raising the voice against the dangerous designs of the communal forces." He asked the people to "keep a close watch" on the situation as "our everything - our lives, our property, our faith and our culture - will be in danger".

"These people are power hungry and their first and the last goal is their meagre political benefits," he told the advisory board meeting of his amalgam here. He asked the people to be prepared mentally for "decisive resistance" if they want to protect their religious identity, culture and the freedom movement. "At this crucial juncture if any type of carelessness or lenience is shown, it will have serious consequences and we will lose our existence forever," he said.
