With the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) toppers scoring a 100% in Humanities, students, teachers, educationists and the social media has been buzzing with debates and discussions on the changing nature of grading for subjective courses. But that doesn’t seemed to have stopped students from now considering Humanities as a possible choice.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), on Monday announced the ISC and ICSE results. Ananya Maity, topper of ISC 2017, and a student of Heritage School, Kolkata scored full marks in Psychology, Political Science and Elective English, which usually are not full scoring subjects.

According to ISC officials, in the last few years, Humanities has emerged as the first preference of most above average students. “Earlier, students used to think about the stream when they were left with no other options but now more and more bright students are opting for it,” said Poonam Sodhi, Deputy Secretary (ISC).

She further said that the changes introduced by CISCE in its ISC pattern, over the years, also played a role in attracting students to study Humanities.
