Human trafficking racket busted at IGI Airport, 2 Air India staff members held

The women were promised well-paying jobs in Dubai and their journey had been arranged by an agent with the help of his Air India associates.

Airport police at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi busted a human trafficking racket, after seven Nepali women were caught in the transit area without proper clearances. Two Air India staff members have been arrested for issuing boarding passes and enabling the women, who were about to board a flight to Dubai, to proceed without proper immigration clearances.

The airport police were alerted when the CISF personnel found the behaviour of the women suspicious. On being questioned, it was revealed that the women were promised well-paying jobs in Dubai and their journey had been arranged by an agent Raju, with the help of his Air India associates Kapil Kumar and Manish Gupta. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) MI Haider said that the women had arrived as domestic passengers from Ahmedabad by Flight No AI 011 on June 20 and were issued issued boarding passes for the flight to Dubai on June 21.  

The police said that a case has been registered under sections 420, 468, 471, 120B, 34 and 370B of the IPC at IGI Airport police station and the women had been sent to Nari Niketan.
