HRD Ministry withdraws sentences in Kashmiri under Bhasha Sangam after row

The ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has withdrawn the sentences and translations in Kashmiri under Bhasha Sangam after a row.

The row erupted over the wrong translations of the sentences from english to Kashmiri, Kashmiri in roman and Kashmiri in Devanagri.

"Sentencestranslations in Kashmiri under Bhasha Sangam were prepared by NCERT in association with language experts from Dept of Education, J&K & University of Kashmir. @HRDMinistry is sensitive to the comments raised & has therefore decided to withdraw them," tweeted HRD Ministry.

Last week, the Department of School Education and Literacy initiated Bhasha Sangam, a celebration of linguistic diversity, with an aim to familiarise every child with simple dialogues in all the 22 languages under Schedule VIII of the Constitution of India.

In a circular, CBSE asked the schools to dedicate one day to each language for 22 days. 

However, several Twitter users have said that only withdrawal is not enough and strong action should be taken against those responsible.

"Dear @PrakashJavdekar ji. I hope you withdraw the course also. Withdrawing tweet won't suffice. Students are learning idiocy and lies. @HRDMinistry," said a twitter user.
