Is everything well between union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh? Irani's frequent visits to the RSS office at Jhandewalan in the capital about a fortnight ago, has raised few doubts.

Sources say that RSS, the right wing Hindu organisation which also drives the BJP has not been happy with the performance of Irani and her ministry. Irani has been making rounds to their office to pacify the Delhi brass.

Education and culture are the area of focus for the Sangh. The HRD plays a crucial role for diving its academic agenda. But the snail pace of the HRD ministry and the controversies has left Sangh disappointed with the ministry

It is learnt that the Sangh is unhappy with the way the ministry handled the rolling back of Four Years Undergraduate Program at Delhi University. Sources say that Delhi University vice chancellor had finally approached the Sangh to make peace. "There should be no room for clashes between the HRD and universities. Either succeed in putting across your point without too controversies or pave way for a graceful exit of the other person," the Sangh has learnt to have conveyed to the HRD minister.

The delay in framing the National Education Policy guidelines and the snail pace at which the skill development initiative is moving has disappointed the top brass.
Introducing Ram Shankar Katheria as the MoS was the first hint dropped. Katheria has been a long term RSS associate, who also worked as a pracharak. "But Irani failed to understand the signals," said a senior Sangh functionary.

Since their introduction in November last year, the two MoS appointed in the ministry have had very little role to play. Sources also informed that Katheria is likely to be given more responsibility after the parliament session. "In all probabilities, central universities will be brought under the control of MoS. All higher level appointments are now likely go through him," added the source.

Despite repeated attempts Irani remained unavailable for a comment. But those close to her denied the rift theory and said, "A handful of people want to tarnish her image. There is nothing wrong between her and the RSS."
