Bill Clinton, on his recent visit to India, was fooled by government officials of a public school in Uttar Pradesh. Clinton was visiting India to supervise the projects of the Clinton Foundation which is involved in education, health and sanitation in rural areas of the country. While visiting the village of Jabrauli, he also went to a secondary high school of the village.

The school administration in order to showcase the school's work and impress Clinton brought a student from private school and portrayed him as a student of the public school. The student, who met Clinton, actually studies at the City International School in Mohanlalganj.

The officials went a step ahead to fudge the documents and made him look like a student of the public school by showing his enrollment documents. Clinton also had a conversatioin with the said pupil about the rising problem of dirrhoea. Clinton was left so impressed by the pupil that he asked for the funds from the Foundation to the education sector to increase.

When the pupil was seen at the City Internatonal School, it was immediately reported and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav who hasn't been on the positive side of any news recently said,"If this has happened it is very bad. The officials involved have cheated the system. This shows there was an attempt to hide the poor standard of education in the State. This is not acceptable."

The Pioneer reports, that when the principal of the private school was approached he said, "He (the student) skipped school one day in between but he is coming regularly now."

On the other hand, the principal of the public school jusified herself by explaining that the student had come to the school along with his grandfather and that he was given admission just a day before the former US President's visit. "I asked for the mark sheet and transfer certificate of the child and the grandfather promised to furnish the same within 24 hours. So I gave the student admission. He was in class when Clinton visited our institution, but is absent since then,” The Pioneer reported her saying. Thus, even though the public school principal tried her best to cover her steps, this shows the extremely sorry state of the education in our country.
