Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Mussourie Ganesh Joshi on Wednesday said he is ready to face any penalty if he was found guilty for assaulting and severely injuring a horse that belonged to the Dehradun Police.

"It is unfortunate. A sensitive issue like this in which an animal was hurt. This is wrong. The video is clubbed and fabricated. The news channel is showing all this fake video for TRP. I am innocent and I am ready to face any penalty if I am found guilty," Joshi told ANI here.

The BJP MLA refuted all allegations and labelled the whole episode as a political conspiracy against him.

"Police should have identified the person because of whom the horse fell, a proper probe should have had taken place. Those were two different incidents which have been clubbed and fabricated. I am very popular in my region, so my image is being maligned by these false allegations. If they (Congress) have to fight me, then fight with me politically not by using an injured animal," he added.

Fellow MLA Chandan Namdas also defended his colleague and said the horse was injured in a fall.

Demanding an 'unbiased' probe on this matter, Namdas told ANI that horses were used to trample his party workers who were protesting against the Congress-led government in the state.

The ghastly attack on the horse took place during a protest on Monday against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday for 'misuse' of funds.

The BJP MLA allegedly attacked the horse deployed to disperse the protesters during a protest against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

The protest took a violent turn when in a bid to dismount the rider the protesters charged at the horse with sticks and broke the animal's leg.

Joshi was allegedly seen in the video attacking the horse and other agitators supporting him in the effort.

The horse underwent a surgical procedure to fix one of its hind legs.
