The Delhi High Court rejected an application for protection from arrest filed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim's adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan facing charges of sedition and inciting violence after the Dera Sacha Sauda chief's conviction in twin rape cases last month. Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal rejected the application on the grounds that Honeypreet was evading arrest. "The appellant till now has evaded arrest, discretionary relief should not be granted," the court said.

The Haryana police on Tuesday conducted searches in Delhi to trace Honeypreet. The police said that searches were being conducted at various locations to trace her and two other key Dera functionaries.

A team of Panchkula police came with an arrest warrant on a tip-off that she was present in a house in A block in South Delhi's Greater Kailash. The raid was conducted at 7:30 am and only the caretaker was found. The house was registered in the name of the Dera Sacha Sauda.

The police said that any person giving any information leading to the arrest of the three and other wanted accused will be suitably rewarded. The Delhi High Court's order came after an application filed by Honeypreet who said she feared for her life in the neighbouring states.

Apprehending threat to her life in Punjab and Haryana, Honeypreet moved the Delhi High Court on Tuesday morning seeking protection from arrest.

"The easiest way out is that you surrender," Justice Sehgal said, while asking why the 36-year-old woman was seeking transit anticipatory bail for three weeks. "First you come on jurisdiction. Why has the plea been moved here... You surrender in Delhi and we will take care," the judge said.
