Honeypreet Insan, the 'adopted' daughter of rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was arrested by the Haryana Police on Tuesday.

The cops got the big success hours after Honeypreet's TV interviews with media channels went viral.

There were reports that she would surrender later in the day.

Confirming the news, the Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla said that “we have arrested Honeypreet and we will produce her in court tomorrow.”

DNA has learnt that Honeypreet was travelling in an Innova car and there was another female accomplice with her.

In her TV interviews, Honeypreet looked shadow of her previous glamorous self.

She also accused media of maligning a 'holy' relationship between a father and daughter.

The closest aide of now jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief, who was missing for more than a month, denied any role in the Panchkula violence that erupted after conviction of Ram Rahim on August 25.

'Our brain stopped working,' she said and added that she was under 'depression' since the conviction.

Honeypreet categorically denied rumours that she had fled to Nepal. Looking very frail and talking in broken sentences, Honeypreet kept on saying that media highlighted about 'skeletons' in Dera ashram without any proof but nobody spoke about her Pitaji's good deeds.

The arrest comes a week after Honeypreet approached the Delhi High Court seeking an anticipatory bail.

However, the High Court had trashed her plea saying that it was a delay tactic and that she doesn't 'deserve' the bail.

“The court said this is time pass; she filed application before Delhi High Court whereas she should have done that in Punjab and Haryana High Court,” the Prosecution lawyer had said.

Her lawyer had claimed that she feared for her life and hence had come to Delhi High Court. At this point, the court had asked Honeypreet to surrender in court if she feared for her life.

In the anticipatory bail application, she had claimed that she is a single woman with clean antecedents, adding, "I am a law-abiding woman and willing to join the investigation."

The Haryana police had named 43 people including Honeypreet Insan as wanted in Panchkula rioting case.

Ram Rahim was convicted by the special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25, following which violence and arson had erupted in Panchkula and Sirsa districts of Haryana which had left 41 people dead and several others injured.

The CBI court on August 28 had sentenced Ram Rahim to 20 years in prison for raping two of his disciples in 2002.
