The Rajasthan Industrial Investment Corporation (RIICO) has reserved a large area of 24.162 hectares in the auto zone of the Karoli industrial area in Alwar district for Honda Cars India Ltd. The Karoli industrial area is an extension of the Tapukara where Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), a subsidiary of Honda of Japan, has set up its manufacturing unit.
According to Vijay Pal Singh, adviser (infrastructure) of RIICO, the 24.162 hectares are part of the vast 123.826 hectares being developed as the auto zone.
Honda has got this land reserved under the new open policy of RIICO where it will be setting up its ancillary units to manufacture spare parts and other accessories for the main unit.
The RIICO has fixed a price of Rs 6,000 per square metre for the Karoli industrial land. It is learnt that the Honda Cars is negotiating with the state government for a more competitive price for this large land area.
Vijay Pal Singh said that RIICO has already prepared a layout plan for the Karoli industrial area which will, apart from auto zone, have a general zone and electronic manufacturing cluster zone.
The industrial area will have a residential and commercial zone and this land will be given to the khatedars in lieu cash compensation. The land was acquired from the farmers under the condition that 68.965 hectares of land would be earmarked in the industrial area for the khatedars.
Vijay Pal Singh said that the RIICO is getting a very encouraging response from the investors where apart from Honda many other companies have shown interest in buying bulk land areas for setting up their units in future.
The Karoli industrial area will have 322 industrial plots and 960 residential plots having area ranging from 100 square metres to 300 square metres. In all, 334 commercial plots of the same dimensions have been planned.
The Salarpur industrial area which is an extension of Khushkhera extension will also have an auto zone spread in 140.353 hectares.The plan for the Salarpur is also ready that will have a general zone of 80.330 hectares and area of 53.792 hectares of land for the khatedars.
The Tapukara manufacturing unit is the second unit of the HCIL’s first manufacturing unit at Greater Noida began operations in 1997.
In 2015-2016 revenue of Rs 16,870c crore and Rs 360 crore net profit was recorded by HCIL after incurring losses for six years years in Indian operations. In July,2017 monthly sales touches over 17,000 cars thanks to a few new launches.
