On Friday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh disapproved of Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina’s disparaging comment about NN Vohra.

He said that NN Vohra, who served more than two terms performed it with constitutional dignity.

He said: “The post of Governor is constitutional & one has to maintain its dignity & I think NN Vohra did good work as Governor of Jammu & Kashmir. People of J&K benefitted from his work.”

Raina was caught on camera claiming that the new Governor Satya Pal Malik is "our man",  days after the former lawmaker assumed charge as the new governor of the state, replacing NN Vohra.

In the video, Raina is heard saying that they did not want Vohra to continue as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.  Jammu and Kashmir’s currently under governor's rule.

“The governor who has come now is our man. We did not want Vohra to continue," Raina, a legislator from Nowshera, can be heard saying in the video. 71-year-old Malik, a former BJP former national vice president, was sworn in as the 13th governor of Jammu and Kashmir last Thursday, becoming the first politician to hold the post in decades.

The state has been under Governor's Rule since June 20, after the BJP snapped its ties with the People's Democratic Party (PDP), bringing down Mehbooba Mufti's government.

Malik replaced Narinder Nath Vohra, Jammu and Kashmir's long-time governor. Vohra, a career bureaucrat, had been governor of the state since June 25, 2008. Vohra had headed the troubled state four times between governments in his 10-year tenure.

He was reportedly replaced after differences with the Centre over the formation of a new government in the state.

According to reports, hectic backroom efforts are on for the government formation in the state. Insiders say that the BJP is exploring the option of having the first Hindu chief minister from Jammu region in the state. There are also reports that People's Conference leader Sajjad Lone may get the deputy chief minister post.

If sources are to be believed, there will be another deputy chief minister from among the PDP rebels to make the government formation an inclusive exercise.

Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir requires 44 MLAs in the 87-member House. The PDP is the single largest party with 28 members followed by BJP with 25 MLAs. The National Conference and the Congress have 15 and 12 members respectively. People’s Conference has two MLAs while CPIM and PDF have one member each. The rest of them are independents.
