Teachers of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology here have threatened to go on fast unto death from tomorrow against alleged poor and biased administration of the institute.

The teachers will go on fast unto death from tomorrow, president of Guru Jambheshwar University Teachers Association (GJUTA) Anil Kumar Bhankhar said here today.

He said the teachers are raising their voice to uphold the academic and research environment of the university which is "deteriorating" day by day owing to "poor and biased" administration and "lack of concern". He alleged that recently the university recruited more than 50 teachers and majority of them do not even have chairs to sit, leave aside proper lab and chambers.

Moreover, the university administration is harassing teachers in the name of self-financing, he alleged.

"The appointment letter has left the teachers worried as there is no word of confirmation and probation in the letters. The appointment letter speaks of rules to be framed in future. It is very ironical that for last 10 years, the university has not been able to frame rules and the draft rules are venomously against the teachers appointed under Self Finance Scheme (SFS), treating them as second-grade employee," he said.

"Ironically, this illegal format of letter is approved by the administration without following any due process and by using special powers vested with the Vice Chancellor which are to be used only under exception circumstances," he added.

"Further, they have different rules for teachers and non-teaching employees under SFS," he alleged.

Non-teaching employees are promoted even against budgeted post even though there is no such provision," he alleged.
