On Day 2 of the RSS Conclave, Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday spoke extensively about how ‘Hindutva is Indianness and inclusion.’

The RSS chief said that the word ‘Hindu’ was about the people of land and not about particular religion.

He reiterated that Hindutva though a modern word is inclusive in nature. He said the word ‘Hindu’ was chosen by the organization because it was the only available word for the RSS to address all communities indigenous to the subcontinent.

Bhagwat also explained that the RSS’ world view is not opposed to religious practices within India. He reiterated the point again and again that the RSS is primarily focused on rebuilding the society and it does not discriminate with other religion. Bhagwat said that people should locate the word Hindu with the people of land and not people of a particular religion.

On Day 3 tomorrow, Bhagwat will be answering questions put up by the delegates. On Tuesday, Bhagwat did not attack the Opposition parties at all. He ensured that the focus remains on the cultural world vision of the RSS rather than RSS as an ideological political force in the country.

On Monday, while inaugurating the 3-day conclave, Bhagwat talked about various ideologies that worked during the freedom movement. The 68-year-old, in fact, acknowledged the role of the Congress, which has been among the organisation's biggest critics.

"In the form of Congress, a big freedom movement had started in the country which gave many great personalities," he said. "Who will be in power, what policy the country will accept is something to be decided by the society and people. There are mechanisms in place for that... We are not concerned about that, what we are concerned about is the conduct of the society," he said adding that RSS does not believe in publicising an individual's work and wants to remain faceless.
