Himachal Pradesh CM flags off 37 ambulances under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram scheme

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday flagged off 37 ambulances under ambitious Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) wherein free transport facilities would be provided to the expectant mothers, women after delivery and the sick children up to one year of age.

The ambulances, flagged off on Friday from police ground in Dharamshala for Kangra, Chamba and Una districts, would be operated in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode with Emergency Management and Research Institute, Hyderabad.

Under the scheme, 125 ambulances are being made operational throughout the state and in the first phase, 45 of them were launched by the Chief Minister from Shimla for Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla and Kinnaur districts in mid-November.

In the second phase, 43 ambulances were launched by state Health Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur from Mandi for Kullu, Bilaspur, Mandi and Lahaul-Spiti districts in December.

These vehicles would be deployed at delivery points in the state depending upon the expected case load and the service would be extended free of cost after discharge from the hospital to all pregnant women, women after delivery and the children of less than one year from hospital, the Chief Minister said on the occasion.

The services would be available through 102 toll free number.
