The Uttar Pradesh Police have laid a honey-trap on UP-Nepal border for Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Acting on an Intelligence Bureau input, the DGP office has directed all police stations in Maharajganj, Gorakhpur and Bahraich bordering Nepal to be on high alert as Honeypreet might cross over to Nepal.

The ASP Maharajganj Ashutosh Shukla said they have circulated photographs of Honeypreet to all bordering police station and posted two women constables in each police stations. Special instructions have been given to the women constables to check every woman and girl, particularly those wearing burqa or some kind of mask, he added.

"We are not allowing any women or girl to cross over without frisking by women constables and document verification by jawans. Night patrolling on open border has been intensified and we are keeping round the clock vigil on those crossing over," Shukla said.

Situated at a distance of about 90 kms from Gorakhpur, Sonauli is the most infamous town bordering Nepal. It is one of the major transit points of human trafficking and smuggling from both sides of the border. More security personnel have been deployed there to ensure Honeypreet does not reach a safe haven in Nepal.

"We are also in touch with bordering Nepal Police check-posts in view of the high alert. They have been requested to inform us if they find any suspicious women or girl entering their territory," Shukla claimed.
