High alert has been declared in the district a day after a 12-year-old school boy was killed in an explosion in Roorkee town, police said ton Sunday.

With Haridwar being sensitive, police has conducted search in all areas around Har ki Paudi, Daksh temple, Chandi Devi temple, Mansa Devi temple in the district, Haridwar CO City Surjit Singh said.

Apart from it, vigil has been stepped up at railway station and bus stands, while check-post has been erected in the border areas of the district, Singh added.

Yesterday, a 12-year-old school boy was killed when an object that he picked up from a garbage heap exploded in Roorkee town of Haridwar district.

The blast took place about 100 metres away from the venue of a VHP conference in Gangnahar police station area at about 12 pm.
