Passengers taking domestic and international flights from Kolkata airport have been issued an advisory to be at the airport three hours in advance, in wake of the security arrangements ahead of Independence Day.

In a press release, the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport authorities said, "In view of the increased 'security measures' due to the forthcoming Independence Day, all passengers travelling out of Kolkata Airport during the high alert period with effect from August 10, 2018 to August 20, 2018 are requested to report early for check-in (three hours for domestic and international flights) to avoid missing their flights.

"NSCBI Airport, Kolkata makes a humble request to all the esteemed travellers to cooperate with the CISF/Security Staff. Inconvenience is highly regretted."

Earlier, Security forces in Delhi are on high alert after a warning by intelligence agencies of a “fidayeen attack” around Independence Day.

The intelligence input states that Ibrahim entered Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of May and is now in Delhi to “coordinate with JeM cadres in the area”. Another senior member of JeM, identified as Umar, has also entered J&K and is making logistical arrangements to carry out the attack in the national capital during 72nd Independence Day, the daily reported.

The entire operation is being supervised by Asghar, Masood Azhar’s deputy in JeM and operational commander for anti-India operations. They are being provided support by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI.

According to intelligence sources, Asghar successfully planned attack on Pathankot Air Force base in 2016 and the 1999 IC-814 hijacking to free Masood Azhar.

The warning comes amid another intelligence report that Pakistan Army is readying a plan to push nearly 600 terrorists into Indian territory to wreak havoc in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the report, accessed by Zee News, 600 terrorists, positioned at various terror launch pads spread along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border, are waiting to infiltrate.
