From giant cakes to sand art: Here's how India celebrated PM Modi's 66th birthday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, visited his mother Heeraben at Gandhinagar and sought her blessings on his 66th birthday.

Modi reached the residence of his brother, Pankaj Modi, in Raysan area of the state capital, where his 97-year-old mother is staying. The Prime Minister sought her blessings and spend around 25 minutes with her. He later drove off to Raj Bhavan where he is put up during his visit.

Greeting the Prime Minister, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore said Prime Minister Modi is dynamic and decisive Prime Minister of the masses. He also celebrated the birthday with the students of the Rajkiya Balika Vidyalaya, at Amer, and cut the mandatory cake.

Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, who is popular for some incredible creations like that of PV Sindhu and the record breaking 100 chariots, amongst many others, dedicated a sand sculpture to Narendra Modi in support of his flagship Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Minister of Development of the North Eastern region, Dr Jitendra Singh distributed schoolbags, tiffin boxes among underprivileged children to celebrate. He tweeted a video of some of the children wish the Prime Minster a happy birthday.

Atul Bakery in Surat has taken the opportunity to wish Narendra Modi in a unique way, with a cake weighing 3750kg, in attempt to break the world record as the world's tallest pyramid cake. As reported by The Financial Express, the 7ft cake was prepared in collaboration with Sakti Foundation, a NGO working for the empowerment of rural women, and the cake will be cut by tribal girls coming from various areas and distributed among them.

At Nagpur, Narendra Modi's look-alike cut the birthday cake and partook in the cleanliness initiative in support of Swacch Bharat.

Besides that wishes kept pouring in for the birthday boy from all corners of the nation. The Prime Minister also met Chief Justice of India TS Thakur at the Raj Bhawan.
