The Ghaziabad Police on Monday who arrested the main accused and four others in connection with the abduction of Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna said that the main accused Devender had been stalking her for months and followed her 150 times.

The police said that the stalker was infatuated with Sarna after spotting her at Rajiv Chowk Metro. They also said that the she was let go unharmed as the stalker wanted her to fall in love with him just like the plot of Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Darr'.

Devender, who has a history of stalking girls, told the police that he fell in love with her and planned the kidnapping meticulously. 

He bought two autos as he knew Sarna took shared autos for her commute to home and also lured other accused by saying that she was a top businesswoman whose abduction would assure Rs 10-12 crores. 

He even knew the brand of chips she liked. He portrayed himself as a hero before Dipti. The police said that the psyche of the culprit is such that he was confident that the victim will agree to marry him after his heroic act and he'll settle down in Nepal. He also allegedly threatened to harm her boyfriend.

The 24-year-old Snapdeal executive, who was abducted from Ghaziabad area of Uttar Pradesh, on Friday returned to her home, ending a 36-hour rescue and search operation launched by the local police. She was taken to a hospital where she underwent medical tests and has been resting ever since. Her brother Deepak while speaking to dna said that the family feels both happy and lucky that Dipti returned to her home safely.
