Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Shibu Soren on Saturday said that his son Hemant Soren, who has now taken over as the state’s ninth Chief Minister, will have to put in a lot of hard work.

“He (Hemant Soren) has become the Chief Minister and he will have to take care of all the workers. He will also have to work hard,” said Soren.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) General Secretary Ram Kripal Yadav extended his best wishes to Hemant Soren.

“A coalition government has been formed under the leadership of Hemant Soren. I would like to congratulate him. I am confident that Hemant Soren will strengthen social justice and secularism,” he said.

Hemant Soren was sworn in as Jharkhand’s ninth Chief Minister today. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Syed Ahmed at the Birsa Mandap situated in the premises of Raj Bhavan.

Rajendra Prasad Singh and Annapurna Devi, legislature party leaders of the Congress and the RJD respectively, were also sworn in as ministers.

Hemant Soren had staked claim on July 9 for the formation of a government in alliance with Congress, RJD, smaller parties and independent MLAs.

The alternative coalition comes nearly six months after the imposition of President’s rule, which was to end on July 18.

The Central rule was imposed on January 18 after the JMM withdrew support to the BJP-led Arjun Munda Government on January 8.
