For a third day running, Pakistan pounded civilian areas with heavy mortar bombs along the International Border (IB), leaving one woman dead and injuring five others in the Arnia sub-sector of Jammu division.

Fearing escalation, the Mehbooba Mufti-led Jammu and Kashmir government has converted schools and banquet halls into shelter camps for civilian population within the five-kilometre stretch of the IB.

Pakistani forces are using heavy caliber long range weapons including 120 mm mortars, to inflict damage. "There is a set pattern in the Pakistan shelling in this sector. When night falls, Pakistan resumes shelling and during the day, there is no shelling", said Surinder Chaudhary, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Ranbir Singh Pora.
