Heat wave conditions may prevail in Andhra Pradesh for next 48 hours

Districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore of coastal Andhra Pradesh and in Anantapuramu, Chittoor, Kadapa and Kurnool in Rayalaseema may be affected.

Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in various districts of Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours, according to the meteorology department.

"Heat wave conditions may continue in districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore of coastal Andhra Pradesh and in Anantapuramu, Chittoor, Kadapa and Kurnool in Rayalaseema region during the next 48 hours," an IMD heat wave warning bulletin stated Tuesday night.

As per the data received till evening, severe heat wave condition prevailed in 33 mandals and heat wave condition in 113 mandals while rest were normal. "Prediction for next two days indicate severe heat wave conditions in 29 mandals and moderate conditions in remaining parts of Andhra Pradesh," the bulletin said. It stated there is an appreciable fall in maximum temperatures at one or two places in Rayalaseema and marked fall in the maximum temperatures at one or two places in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The highest maximum temperature at 45 degree celsius was recorded in Anantapur, Kurnool and Nandyal. Meanwhile, the director of Disaster Management said in a statement that the personnel of Medical and Health departments have conducted 21,361 medical camps till now.

"A total of 10,32,171 ORS packets were distributed by Health personnel till now, while stocks of ORS packets and medicines are being replenished regularly and awareness campaigning is continuing throughout the state," the statement said.
