The Uttar Pradesh police seems to be in the news for all the wrong reasons these days. First, it was a case of a plain-clothes officer shooting a civilian, who didn't stop his car. Then came a viral video of a cop shouting 'thain thain' when his pistol was jammed. And finally, a series of photographs from Lucknow where the cops assaulted job aspirants who protested against the Yogi Adityanath government in Lucknow.

In the images that have been circulated on social media, some of the victims, which include women, are seen bleeding from the head for staging the protest.

Ironically, the state police chief recently said that the UP police was not trigger happy, but people-friendly.

OP Singh while discussing the murder of Vivek Tiwari said that lack of professional training was responsible for the deaths of individauls such as Apple employee Vivek Tiwari.

To a question on the killing of Tiwari (38) in Lucknow, he said, "The two constables (involved in the incident) are not brand ambassadors of the state police." "We are not trigger-happy but people-friendly. Why did they shoot a person without a firearm? They have been arrested and dismissed (from service). A few such in the force should not be defining the culture of the force," Singh told PTI.
