Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, currently lodged in Ranchi's Birsa Munda jail, was produced before three special courts of the CBI on Wednesday, in connection with the Rs 1,000-crore fodder scam cases.

Yadav was produced in the courts of special CBI judges — SS Prasad, Shivpal Singh and Pradeep Kumar — in connection with fraudulent withdrawals from the Chaibasa, Dumka and Doranda treasuries respectively.

"Of these, the trial, argument and hearing in the Chaibasa treasury case concluded on Wednesday and the judgment is expected on January 24, when the case is listed next," said Prabhat Kumar, Lalu's counsel in the Ranchi court. The Chaibasa treasury case pertains to embezzlement of over Rs 30 crore in the early 1990s and around 50 persons are accused in it.

A production warrant had also been issued for Lalu to appear in the Bhagalpur treasury case at a special CBI court in Patna on January 10, though he could not make it. However, sources said that the hearing will not proceed until Lalu is present in the court.
