Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech in the Rajya Sabha took a dig at Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury, who kept on laughing during his speech on Wednesday.

Her interruptions were admonished by Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, but PM Modi.

"Chairman Sir, please do not stop Renuka Ji from laughing. It is after the Ramayana serial that the nation heard such kind of laughter," he said, evoking much laughter from BJP members in the house.

This was the moment that was shared in Parliament.

A number of PM Modi's followers on Twitter said that the laugh was similar to Ravana's sister Shurpanaka in the 1986 television serial Ramayana made by Ramanand Sagar. The actress who portaryed Shurpanaka's laugh, the PM's followers said, was similar to Renuka Chowdhury's cackle.

Here is how other people responded to Renuka Chowdhury's laugh

Earlier, speaking on motion of thanks to President's address in Rajya Sabha, Modi again attacked Congress and said, While criticising BJP, you start criticising India. While attacking Modi, you start to attack India. (BJP ki burai karte karte aap Bharat ki burai karne lag jaata hain. Modi par hamla bolte bolte aap Hindustan par hamla bolne lag jaate hain)

Stating that he fails to understand why some people feel bad when India improves its ease of business rankings, Modi said, "We want Mahatma Gandhi's India. Even the Congress wants 'Gandhi's India.' - the India of the Emergency, Bofors, Chopper scams. When a big tree falls......remember these lines...is this the India Congress wants."

The Prime Minister also said that the government is always looking for suggestions, feedback, and input on the schemes, "Let us work together in providing the poor quality and affordable healthcare."

"You call us name changers....we are aim changers  - we work hard and have ushered in a paradigm shift in the working of the government. Innovative projects are being thought about and completed in a time-bound manner," Modi said.

"I have always said that for the nation's development so far, all the previous governments' have made a contribution," Modi added.
