Heads start rolling in Jaipur Discom after two persons die of electrocution

Two engineers with the Jaipur Discom were on Friday suspended in wake of the electrocution of two persons in the city on Thursday.

Assistant engineer (AEN) GL Gupta posted in Shastri Nagar office of Discom is among the two officers suspended on charges of ‘negligence’. The area where a youth died near Lata Cinema in Jhotwara was under his jurisdiction.

Junior engineer (JEN) KC Gupta posted at Rambagh Circle office was also suspended after an elderly lady died of electrocution near Teen Murti Circle the same day.

Both these engineers have been suspended and a probe ordered into the accidents.

“The inquiry has been initiated in the accidents and the engineers have been suspended,” said Naveen Arora, superintendent engineer, city circle (Jaipur discom).

After the unfortunate deaths, Jaipur Discom officials have decided to chalk out a plan for taking all the electricity cables in city underground.
