Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today launched a poll campaign in Haryana to give a boost to the INLD-SAD candidates, who are in the fray for the October 15 elections.

On the first leg of the campaign today, the Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister used a customised van to criss-cross more than a dozen villages in Sirsa district, considered as stronghold of the Chautalas. Addressing gatherings at these places, Badal asked the people to recall the initiative taken by the previous INLD governments for the development of Haryana and welfare of the masses.

He said that Devi Lal and Chautala-led governments worked for overall development and welfare of the state, whereas, the Congress government of Haryana was allegedly busy in political vendetta and development of Rohtak constituency alone during the last 10 years. "Congress government of Haryana framed false charges against Om Parkash Chautala and that too for providing employment to youth. Is it wrong to provide government jobs to unemployed youth of the state" he asked.

He touched upon the alleged political vendetta adopted by the erstwhile Congress government in Punjab against his family. "All the cases against our family had been dismissed and people of Punjab had bestowed faith in Parkash Singh Badal for two time in a row (2007 and 2012 elections in Punjab)," he said.

"Similarly the people of Haryana will also vote for their beloved leader Om Parkash Chautala to put a full stop to the conspiracies planned against him by the Congress party," he claimed.

"We are confident that INLD-SAD alliance will get more than 60 seats in the Haryana assembly poll," he said. Over the next few days, Badal is scheduled to address rallies at Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Ambala City, Kaithal, Panipat, Sonipat, Faridabad, Rohtak and Fatehabad in favour of the alliance candidates.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala-led INLD is contesting the Assembly polls in alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). While INLD has fielded 88 candidates, the remaining two seats in the 90-member assembly are being fought by the SAD.

SAD is contesting on two seats of Ambala City, and Kalanwali, which falls in Sirsa district.
