Stubble burning has harmful effects on environment, human health and productivity have raised serious concern. For many years, the Punjab and Haryana governments have been trying to curb the illegal bi-annual practice, but their efforts have been dwarfed by the enormity of the problem so far.
In April, satellite images of fire incidents is helping authorities in Punjab tackle stubble burning in the state, putting a check on the banned practice that causes air pollution and adversely affects human health.
