The encounter broke out in Laribal village of Zachaldara in Handwara, 100 kms from Srinagar, last night after security forces launched an operation, an army officer said.

The operation is still underway as there are reports of presence of other terrorists.

Just on Thursday, BSF and Pak Rangers had a meeting where it was decided that modalities would be sorted out to maintain peace in the border.

Contrary to media speculations, Pakistan Rangers team did not raise any hostile matter and was very cordial. The IB was also at peace as no ceasefire violation was reported yesterday (Wednesday) and today (Thursday). This surprised us too," said a source privy to the meeting to dna.
