After UP state Haj house, now a police station in Lucknow has been painted in saffron.

Established in 1939, the Qaiserbagh Police Station in Lucknow was painted in saffron on Saturday. Earlier, a few police stations in Bijnore and Azamgarh, the parliamentary constituency of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, were similarly painted.

Meanwhile, after strong reactions from Muslim ulemas, the state government has ordered to wear off a little saffron colour from the exterior walls of the UP state Haj house. Walls were repainted with light saffron colour on Saturday to take off the bright saffron colour.

Tanzeem Ulema-e-Hind State President Maulana Nadeemuljwadi had lodged strong protest warning the BJP government not to indulge in such acts which provoke religious sentiments of the community members. “Painting the Haj house in saffron colour is an anti-Muslim act,” he had stated.

Even after wearing off a little saffron tinge from the walls of the Haj house, the state administration decided to went ahead with the plan of repainting buildings. Qaiserbagh Police Station was the next in line. By Saturday evening, the police station wore the ‘bhagwa’ hue.
