Former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Tuesday said he had no information from any source or agency about underworld fugitive Dawood Ibrahim's wish to return to India.

When I was the home minister, we had no information from any source or any agency, said Shinde.

As per a report published in a newspaper, a Delhi-based lawyer and Congress leader had communicated to his party leadership as recently as 2013 that Dawood Ibrahim was ready to return to India.

The reports also quoted top officials of the previous UPA government as saying that the ?offer to return? was discussed at the highest level within the party and the government.

The lawyer was reportedly told that the prospect of conducting a trial against India's most wanted person on his terms was too risky.
