Actor Kamal Haasan’s hint at entering politics seems to have made the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP nervous as its leaders joined the ruling AIADMK ministers to criticise the actor.
The actor’s hint of political plunge comes in the wake of AIADMK ministers’ continuous attack on him for his comment that widespread corruption prevails in the state. But BJP, which wants superstar Rajinikanth to make a foray into politics, was quick to attack Haasan, who is a rationalist and a supporter of the Dravidian movement.
BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said that Haasan cannot be compared with actor Rajinikanth on concerns for the society. She claimed that Rajinikanth has been expressing his views on social issues since 1996 when he gave an open call to defeat the then CM J Jayalalithaa.
Her colleague and party national secretary H Raja said that the actor who proclaims himself to be a crusader against corruption was silent on the irregularities that happened during the previous DMK regime. “DMK working president MK Stalin is making use of Kamal’s service for his gains,” he said.
