Delhi: Man tries to kiss a girl, police says it is not molestation

In a shocking incident, a man attempted to kiss a woman in Connaught Place in Delhi, near Barakhamba traffic light. However, when the girl approached the police to register a case, she was told that kissing is not 'molestation'.

According to a post on Facebook, a man named Nikhil approached the woman and tried to kiss her while she was walking down M block (near Barakhamba traffic light) in Connaught Place. But the woman somehow got hold of the guy and gathered a crowd who grabbed him.

Adding to the woes of the woman, as mentioned in the post, sub-inspector Sanjiv Kumar asked her to write the application thrice and then rejected it, saying just trying to kiss a girl was not molestation. Meanwhile, the police did not take alleged molester in custody.

When the woman's friend tried to file an application and seek justice, sub-inspector tried to threaten them by saying that they have to come to the police station and court next day and that the woman would have to call her parents or relatives. The woman questioned why the man did not have to produce his parents in the police station and court. Kumar replied saying, "There is no need!"

"It felt as we were the criminals and he is the victim... The police have even forwarded her number to this guys parents (they called her last night) and now she fears the worst (sic)," the post said. 

The post also says that the police have forwarded woman's number to the alleged molester's parents.
