Amid the ongoing row over the social media campaign by a Kargil martyr's daughter over the violent clashes in Delhi University's Ramjas College, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday hit out at the Congress party, asking them to stay away from the ideological battle.

Rijiju's response comes a day after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and several other party leaders reacted to Gurmeher Kaur's opinion on the issue. Rijiju stoked a political controversy when he asked who was polluting the Kargil martyr daughter's mind.

Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of Kargil martyr's Captain Mandeep Singh and a student of Lady Sri Ram College had started the campaign "I am not afraid of ABVP", following the violence at Ramjas college, which went viral and received massive support from students across various universities.

However, after receiving rape threats and stating that she had been through a lot, Kaur has now withdrawn from her campaign.

Taking to micro-blogging site, Rijiju tweeted, "Dynastic party, pls stay away. It's a nationalists vs far-leftists ideological battle. People will decide what suits to make a strong India."

Along with the tweet, Rijiju attached a text image which reads, "Few Britishers and even handful of thugs defeated Indian rules not because Indians were weak but there was a Jaichand all the time."

"Nobody has the absolute right to define nationalism but anybody who wants to break India by supporting Afzal Guru & terrorists is anti-national," it reads.

Earlier, Rahul had tweeted, "Against the tyranny of fear we stand with our students. For every voice raised in anger, intolerance & ignorance there will be a Gurmehar Kaur."

Later, speaking to ANI, he said, "She (Gurmehar Kaur) is a young girl, creating controversy over her isn't right. It's about leftists who celebrate when our jawans die. During war between India & China they (Left) supported China; they mislead the youth and it is not right."

Ramjas College had on Wednesday witnessed large-scale violence between members of AISA and ABVP workers. The genesis of the clash was an invite to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar on 'Culture of Protests' which was withdrawn by the college authorities following opposition by the RSS student wing.
