The Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is still wondering what's his fault after the court sentenced him to 20 years in prison after conviction in two rape cases.

"The day Ram Rahim Singh was lodged in jail, he couldn't sleep. He kept murmuring 'oh god, what's my fault' (rabba, mera kya kasoor hai)," inmate Swadesh Kirad who is now out on bail told ANI.

The inmate also claimed that the moment verdict was pronounced, the Dera chief kneeled down and said, "hang me, I don't want to live anymore."

Kirad said that there was no VIP treatment to Rahim Rahim and he was treated like other prisoners.

However, the prisoners were angry due to violence that caused so many deaths, he claimed. "Had he not been kept separately, they would've attacked him," Kirad added.

Defending himself during a trial, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had claimed that he is 'impotent', therefore, there was no question of him raping the two Sadhvis in 1999.

Recording his statement before the CBI judge Jagdeep Kumar, Singh had said that since 1990, he is not medically fit to do sex with anyone and he cannot perform sexual intercourse.

During the trial for the quantum of sentencing, a special court at Rohtak prison had compared Ram Rahim Singh as a wild beast.

The court has fined him Rs 15 lakh in each of the two cases, of which Rs 14 lakh each would go to the two victims who were part of his sect and were coerced into having sex with him.

The defence counsel sought leniency from the court arguing that Ram Rahim was active in social work and had health issues. He said he will appeal against the orders in a high court.
