A day after Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Gurdaspur terrorists were from Pakistan, the government has said that there's no “credible evidence” to suggest that the Pakistan government were aware of the plot that resulted in the deaths of seven people. According to a report in NDTV, the government has also said that that talks with Pakistan are unlikely to be derailed. The National Security Advisors of both countries are going to meet in Delhi in a month to discuss how to counter the threats of terrorism.

The upcoming meeting was decided when Narendra Modi met Nawaz Sharif in Ufa in Russia. The Pakistani government had condemned the Gurdaspur strike. A government source told NDTV, "The Pakistani government's endorsement is not visible in the Gurdaspur attack.” Earlier, Rajnath Singh had said that the government will do everything possible to prevent cross-border terrorism and “any effort by the enemies of our nation to undermine India's territorian integrity and security of our citizens will meet an effective and forceful response from our security forces.”
