Gur ends quiet in Delhi, Chakku up in Muzaffarnagar

The wholesale gur (Jaggery) market settled quiet in the national capital today with prices after hovering both ways on scattered deals, ended at previous levels.

On the other hand, prices of gur Chakku in Muzaffarnagar surged by Rs 100 per quintal on paucity of stocks.

Marketmen attributed the rise in gur chakku at Muzaffarnagar to scarcity of stocks amid speculative buying.

In Muzaffarnagar gur chakku prices ruled higher from Rs 3,100-3,250 to end the day at Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal): Gur chakku Rs 3,500-3,600, pedi Rs 3,800-3,900, dhayya Rs 3,900-4,000 and shakkar Rs 4,100-4,200.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,625-2,675, chakku Rs 3,200 3,300, khurpa Rs N.Q. and Ladoo Rs 3,250-3,300.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,400-3,450 and dhayya Rs 3,450- 3,500.
