Gujarat ranks first in implementing social welfare schemes

Gujarat has stood first in the implementation of social welfare schemes for the year 2013-14 under the Centre's 20-point programme, an official statement said on Sunday.

"The present Gujarat government has set a record by achieving the first rank in the implementation of pro-poor schemes under the Central government's 20-points-programmes," the statement issued by the Gujarat government said.

"As per the progress report of the 'Statistics and Programme Implementation' department of the Central government, released recently, Gujarat has achieved more than 100% in the implementation of various schemes." According to the statement, Gujarat has set a record in the implementation of 18 schemes of public welfare under the scales set by the Centre.

In implementing various schemes, the state government has achieved more than 100% than the targets set by the Centre, it added.

Swarnim Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojna (458%), activities for generating income by Self help Group (SHG) (1037%), Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) (103%), Food Security for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) (102 %) and Housing scheme for the urban poor (409%) are amongst those schemes.

National Rural Drinking Water programme (207%), family welfare schemes for the Scheduled Cast (SC) community (627%), post -matriculation scholarship for SC students (102%) and Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS) (100%) are also part of the list.

The Gujarat government has also achieved 808% more than the target set by Centre in its seven-point programme for allocation of land, house, clean water, medical, education and social securities to the poor families, the statement said.

Apart from this, the state government also registered its achievement in the implementation of anganwadi programmes (102%), forestation (112%), plantation drive (123%), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (540%) and in providing pump-sets (169%) and electricity supply (100%), it added.
