Buoyed by Ahmed Patel's win in the Rajya Sabhha elections, Gujarat Congress is looking to come back to power in the state after nearly two decades. To boost their confidence, Congress VP Rahul Gandhi went to Ahmedabad on Monday and addressed the party workers.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that the much hallowed Gujarat model has failed in the state. Gandhi expressed confidence that Congress will be able to make a comeback in the state and form government. He said the much talked about model has not helped ' youth, farmers, small businessmen or shopkeepers", and has only been beneficial to handful of people. Rahul Gandhi even highlighted several issues like GST, demonetization and unemployment which Congress will try to use to corner BJP in the upcoming elections.

Congress VP also took questions from grassroot workers during the interactive session.

The Gujarat polls are expected towards the end of the year. Congress is looking to make a comeback with the ruling party BJP grappling with infighting, anti-incumbency and Patidar agitation etc. However many top leaders including Shankersinh Vaghela have deserted Congress in the recent past. Vaghela is yet to make his political ambitions clear but some others have joined BJP. So it will be an upheal task for Congress to make a comeback in the state, although Rahul Gandhi is confident about it.
