Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday filed a complaint against Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia for allegedly comparing chief minister Narendra Modi to a monkey.
At an election rally in Junagadh on Wednesday, Modhwadia equated PM Dr Manmohan Singh with a lion. And without taking Modi’s name, he said that a monkey sitting atop a tree in trying to challenge the lion.
“He will even challenge the prime minister to fight elections against him. He is like a monkey who is challenging the king of jungle to a duel from atop a tree. He should know where he stands,” said Modhwadia on Wednesday. “The king of the jungle will not climb the tree but the monkey will have to come down, sooner or later,” he added.
This remark prompted the ruling party to file a complaint with Election Commission of India (EC) against Modhwadia for allegedly breaching model code of conduct. “On basis of media reports, we have filed a complaint against Modhwadia. We have also submitted video footage,” said BJP leader Parindu Bhagat.
