Even as Patidar leader Hardik Patel has not cleared the suspense over his support for the Congress in the upcoming Gujarat Elections, another influential Dalit leadre met Rahul Gandhi today.

Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch's convenor Jignesh Mevani, who gained political prominence after the last year's Una flogging incident, met the Congress Vice President in south Gujarat on Friday.

Though he joined Gandhi scion's Navsarjan Yatra in Navsari, Mevani maintained that he is not joining the Congress.

“Met Rahul Ji. He told us 90 per cent of our demands aren't demands but our constitutional rights which will be included in manifesto,” Mevani said.

He also said that he will work with the Congress to defeat the ruling BJP in the state.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Gandhi continued his election campaign in the state.

Addressing a rally, he said that if Congress comes to power, it will change the GST.

Criticising the GST implemented by the Narendra Modi government, Gandhi said, “This is not the GST, this is Gabbar Singh Tax. Its aim is to take away your hard earned money.”

“If you ask us to make changes in the GST or its structure, I assure you that the day we come to power in country we will change it. We will bring in a GST that will benefit you,” he added.
