Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday pushed the Grand Old party is on the backfoot once more as he raked up the “anti-India” tweets posted by Congress leader Salman Nizami. Nizami had also questioned the PM over his parents in a tweet.
While addressing a public rally in Gujarat’s Lunawada, Modi said, “I want to tell something to all Congress leaders who are abusing me, mocking my poor family, asking who my parents are. This nation is everything to me. Every moment of my time is devoted to India and 125 crore Indians.”
Nizami had questioned the Prime Minister’s background, saying: “Rahul Gandhi, son of Rajiv Gandhi. Sacrificed his life for India. Rahul Gandhi, grandson of Indira Gandhi. Sacrificed her life for India. Rahul Gandhi, grand son of Jawaharlal Nehru, fought for India’s independence. Narendra Modi, son of ...? Grand son of ...?”
“There is a youth Congress leader Salman Nizami. He is even campaigning for Congress in Gujarat. He wrote on Twitter about Rahul Ji’s father, grandmother. But he asks - Modi tell me who is your mother, who is your father. Such language can’t even be used for enemies,” Modi added.
What causing major embarrassment for the Congress was the fact that Nizami had so far been rubbing shoulders with all the high and mighty of the Congress, including Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jyotiraditya Scindia and even Manmohan Singh.
He hit out at Congress, alleging that Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot had objected to it when the BJP government used Mahi water for the benefit of north Gujarat. At a public meeting in Mehsana in north Gujarat on Saturday, Modi said that the Congress was vindictive and was always looking for ways to jail him.
