A day before Gujarat goes into the first phase of polling, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday targeted the saffron party over “Ram” and said his Ram was always in his heart and he never sought votes from Him.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Lalu obliquely targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party, and proverbially said, “Doobte ko Ram ka sahaara (Ram has become the straw to clutch for the drowning party).” The former Bihar Chief Minister said, “Mera Ram mere hriday mein sadaiv mere ang ang mein rehta hai. Main unhe mandir, masjid, gurudware aur church mein nahi khojta (My Ram is always in my heart. I do not look for him in temples, mosques, gurudwaras or churches).”

The veteran Yadav leader, who has been writing extensively on the demolition of Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir issue on its 25th anniversary for the last few days, warned people of Gujarat to remain cautious. “Kamal ka phool poore paanch saal April fool banata hai. Gujarat mein 22 saal se bana raha hai… be careful, be happy,” said Lalu and added, “I do not seek votes from my dear Ram but pray for peace, harmony, prosperity and happiness from Him.”

Lalu also lashed out at ousted Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar for his “neech” remark and said he was “mentally unfit” and in “collusion” with PM Modi.
