Gujarat elections 2017 | Jolt to Alpesh Thakor as key aide joins BJP

Thakor community leader and major supporter of Alpesh Thakor-led Thakor Sena, Sendhaji Thakor, joined BJP on Thursday in presence of BJP leader Anil Jain in Ahmedabad.

Sendhaji reached along with his supporters and joined BJP in a formal ceremony held at BJP media centre in the city. This is considered to be a major hit to Thakor Sena leader Alpesh Thakor who joined Congress in October at a huge rally held in Gandhinagar. Thakor community has a great hold over all four seats in Gandhinagar district which are Gandhinagar north, Gandhinagar south, Dehgam and Kalol.

Congress and BJP had won two seats each in last polls. Following to Alpesh Thakor joined Congress, the equation for BJP had become tough to win but the party has managed to defect a strong leader and great face from the community which dominates here. Sendhaji was a worker of Jan Sangh and BJP in his early life but had parted with BJP a few years back and had joined Congress. Sendhaji said, "This is like Ghar Vapasi for me as BJP is the party to which I was associated in the beginning of my political career. I will help BJP candidates to win in Gandhinagar districts. I do not have any desire for position in party or organisation."
