Almost every exit poll, conducted by television news channels and other agencies after the second and final phase of polling in Gujarat assembly elections, has predicted a clear win for Bharatiya Janata Party. But former president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Arjun Modhwadia insisted in a press conference that the final result will be that of reverse of what the exit polls had predicted. He pointed that the exit polls had gone wrong in many states.
"People have voted and decided fate of the Gujarat. They have seen 22 years' rule of BJP and are tired. That is the reason why there were long queues outside the polling booths. Such lines were seen during the regime of Indira Gandhi," said Arjun Modhwadia, former GPCC president.
He also said that BJP is always caught in spreading falsehood. "During 2012 elections BJP was claiming to get more than 151 seats. Even during this elections, they have aimed to get 150 seats. But I am confident we are getting majority," added Modhwadia.
He thanked Rahul Gandhi for his guidance and support during this election. "Rahul Gandhi has guided us well and we thank him for campaigning in state. BJP had no topic or agenda and has again gone back to issues like Pakistan. This has showed their frustration foreseeing their defeat," Modhwadia remarked.
