Gujarat Elections 2017 | Counting to be held at 37 centres in Gujarat

The Election Commission has set up 37 counting centres across the state for counting of votes for the 2017 Assembly elections, senior officials said. The fate of 1,828 candidates, who contested from the 182 seats in the two-phase elections, would be known within hours of beginning of the counting at 8 am on Monday.

Voting for 89 seats that went to polls in the first phase of the Assembly elections took place on December 9, while 93 seats went to polls in the second phase on December 14.

The over 50,000 Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units used for polling have been kept in strongrooms across several places.

Officials said that three counting centres have been set up in Ahmedabad, and two each in Surat and Anand, while the remaining 31 districts have one each.

In Ahmedabad, counting of votes for Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Vatva, Ellisbridge, Naranpura, Amraiwadi, Maninagar and Sabarmati seats will take place at LD Engineering College. Counting of votes for Naroda, Thakkarbapa Nagar, Bapunagar, Dariapur, Jamalpur-Khadia, Danilimda (SC) and Asarwa (SC) seats will take place at Gujarat College Campus, while those of Viramgam, Sanand, Nikol, Daskroi, Dholka and Dhandhuka will be at Government Polytechnic.

Counting of votes for Dehgam, Gandhinagar South, Gandhinagar North, Mansa and Kalol seats will take place at Government Commerce and Arts College in Sector 15, Gandhinagar.
